Why We Started on 15 May
Euro Relief was founded on the seventieth anniversary of the Nakba. That date was a choice.
Euro Relief was founded on 15 May 2018 — the seventieth anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba — by a group of British Palestinian professionals who saw the need and decided not to wait for someone else to meet it.
Our first initiative was Ramadan iftars for Palestinian refugee children in the Wadi El-Zayni area of Lebanon, children who had been displaced a second time by the war in Syria. That work led to further programmes in refugee camps in Jerusalem, Jenin and the Gaza Strip.
Today we work in support of the roughly 6.5 million Palestinian refugees living across 58 camps in occupied Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria — communities that have faced severe barriers to food, healthcare, housing and education for generations.
